Position Summary

BCR Environmental Corporation is seeking a Director of Operations to lead the execution and delivery of complex capital equipment, wastewater treatment, biosolids processing, and industrial infrastructure projects across North America. This role serves as the operational leader responsible for aligning outsourced manufacturing, field services, construction activities, commissioning, and aftermarket support to ensure successful project delivery.


The Director of Operations will oversee the full project lifecycle from contract initiation through commissioning and project closeout, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with customer expectations and company profitability objectives. This individual will be responsible for developing scalable operational processes, managing resource allocation, implementing Lean Six Sigma methodologies, establishing KPI-driven management systems, improving project execution performance, and driving a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement throughout the organization.


The ideal candidate combines strong operational leadership with extensive experience managing engineered equipment projects, industrial construction activities, subcontractors, manufacturing partners, and customer relationships. This position requires a hands-on leader capable of navigating complex technical projects while building the systems, processes, performance metrics, and teams necessary to support BCR’s continued growth.


Key Responsibilities


Operational Leadership & Business Execution

  • Lead operational activities across, field service, commissioning, aftermarket support, and project execution functions
  • Develop and implement operational strategies, processes, and performance metrics that improve efficiency, scalability, project delivery, and profitability
  • Lead the company’s operational excellence strategy by implementing Lean Six Sigma principles, standardized operating procedures, KPI-driven management systems, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Utilize operational data, analytics, and performance metrics to identify inefficiencies, perform root cause analysis, optimize workflows, improve resource utilization, and drive measurable improvements in safety, quality, schedule adherence, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Establish operational KPIs and reporting systems to monitor project performance, staffing utilization, customer satisfaction, safety, quality, and financial outcomes
  • Partner with executive leadership to support strategic planning, operational growth initiatives, organizational development, and resource allocation
  • Develop and improve operational workflows, project execution standards, and resource planning processes that support organizational growth
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, safety, and customer service excellence


Supply Chain Coordination

  • Oversee operational coordination with outsourced manufacturing, fabrication, and equipment suppliers
  • Ensure production schedules, quality requirements, engineering deliverables, and delivery timelines support project commitments
  • Monitor supplier performance and implement corrective actions when required
  • Support strategic vendor selection, contract management, and strategic supplier relationships


Field Operations & Commissioning

  • Direct field operations, subcontractor management, startup and commissioning efforts
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies, environmental regulations, customer requirements, and applicable industry standards
  • Support field troubleshooting efforts and operational handoff to customers following project completion
  • Drive continuous improvement within field service, commissioning, and aftermarket operations
  • Provide occasional operational support during critical startup and commissioning activities


Continuous Improvement 

  • Partner closely with Applications Engineering, Sales, Project Engineering, Finance, Manufacturing Partners to ensure alignment and continuous improvement of efficiency  
  • Drive operational standardization and process improvements that support growth and repeatable project execution
  • Improve communication and alignment across all project stakeholders
  • Assist in developing scalable operational systems and infrastructure to support continued company expansion


Team Development & Organizational Growth

  • Lead, mentor, and develop project managers, field personnel, and operational staff
  • Support recruiting, workforce planning, succession planning, and leadership development initiatives
  • Build organizational capabilities necessary to support company growth and expanding project volumes
  • Establish clear performance expectations, accountability measures, and employee development plans
  • Foster a high-performance culture focused on execution excellence, teamwork, safety, and customer satisfaction


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, Building Sciences, or a related technical discipline
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive leadership experience in operations, project management, construction management, industrial services, capital equipment, or infrastructure environments
  • Minimum of 3 years leading multidisciplinary teams responsible for project delivery, field operations, or industrial infrastructure execution
  • Demonstrated experience leading operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives within capital equipment, industrial manufacturing, EPC, or project-based environments
  • Proven ability to develop KPI-driven operating systems, performance dashboards, standardized processes, and data-driven decision-making practices
  • Demonstrated experience managing large, multi-million-dollar engineered equipment, industrial construction, or infrastructure projects commissioning and closeout
  • Strong understanding of project scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, contracts, procurement, subcontractor management, change management, and project controls
  • Demonstrated experience with contract administration, change order management and holding suppliers and customers accountable to agreed contract terms and conditions.
  • Experience coordinating outsourced manufacturing, fabrication, and equipment supply partners [move to preferred section]
  • Experience leading field operations, equipment installation, startup, commissioning, and customer handoff activities
  • Strong financial and business acumen, including project profitability, forecasting, budgeting, and resource planning
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Microsoft Project
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and perform effectively in a fast-paced, project-driven environment
  • Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to travel throughout North America
  • Fluent spoken and written English


Preferred Experience

  • Six Sigma certification (Green Belt minimum; Black Belt preferred) with demonstrated success applying Lean Six Sigma methodologies
  • Experience within wastewater treatment, biosolids processing, environmental technologies, resource recovery, or industrial process industries
  • EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) or GC (General Contractor) project delivery experience
  • Familiarity with rotating equipment, thermal processing systems, dryers, augers, screw conveyors, blowers, pumps, motors, gearboxes, and related mechanical systems
  • Experience managing construction subcontractors and field installation teams
  • Experience utilizing Smartsheet
  • Experience scaling operational organizations within rapidly growing project-based businesses
