Job description

JOB SUMMARY
Efficiently diagnose any mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical problems and proficiently repair any Energy Solutions power plant provided product including but not limited to any model of Caterpillar engine/generator set, transformers, switchgear, BOP systems, etc. Various levels of knowledge and abilities in the Essential Functions listed below are required and will determine job placement.
Job placement will be based on knowledge, skills, and abilities in accordance with the following guidelines, including prior experience.
This position will support all Energy Solutions power plant locations that are under Energy Solutions service contracts. This position will be required to help maintain and meet performance requirements of each individual service contract while working a rotating, 3 weeks on/1 week off, schedule.
The level of knowledge and performance expectations for all functions and skills will be outlined in greater detail in the Wyoming Machinery Company/Energy Solutions Employee Development Program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Effectively trouble shoot electrical systems varying in range from low/medium/high.
  • Perform monthly inspections of power generation equipment per manufacturer requirements and as outlined in site specific service contracts.
  • Visually inspects and troubleshoot customer equipment and use diagnostic equipment to proficiently determine problems or malfunctions
  • Regularly removes, repairs or replaces components or piece parts on engines, hydraulic systems, brake systems, electrical systems, on-board diagnostic systems, air systems, fuel systems, transmissions and related power train systems
  • All repairs must meet/exceed the expectations of the Service Contracts & Equipment Manager/Service &Commissioning Engineering Team/customer
  • Regularly reviews data from the trouble shooting and inspection process to work up detailed, accurate and cost-effective job estimates
  • Regularly reviews data from the troubleshooting and inspection process to work up detailed and accurate parts orders
  • Ability to properly start and safely operate all Energy Solutions provided products

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
  • Must demonstrate above average discipline in properly completing and submitting all paperwork associated with the work they have performed within 24 hours of completing that portion of the job. Some examples include: service reports, labor hour information, DOT logs and expense reports
  • Must demonstrate prompt, thorough, safe completion of all duties required of the position
  • Regularly travel to various Energy Solutions sites for repairs, maintenance, or to assist other Energy Solutions Power Plant Technicians.
  • Assist in commissioning and start up activities as needed

QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/SKILL/ABILITY
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Perform basic service procedures such as checking fluid levels and changing filters.
  • Experience performing maintenance and repair on multiple types of power plant equipment, power systems, and heavy industrial/natural gas and diesel engines and hydraulic systems
  • Direct experience with Caterpillar equipment
  • Identify various fasteners and their uses.
  • Identify and describe the importance of onsite and personal safety equipment.

  • Demonstrate ability to identify and understand the use of basic hand tools.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Recognize and identify basic mechanical/electrical components

โ€ข Proficient in print reading and interpretation.
โ€ข Demonstrated ability to layout and terminate low voltage breaker panels per local code requirements.
โ€ข Understand and apply transformer theory for terminating equipment.
โ€ข Operate test equipment including multi-meters, amp clamps, meggers, etc.
PREFERRED
  • Class A or B Commercial Driver's License

PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
โ€ข Prolonged walking, sitting, standing, climbing, bending, stooping, squatting, working in elevated position.
โ€ข Frequent use of hands for simple grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulating tools/objects, and writing/typing.
โ€ข Walking on un-level ground with many slip, trip and fall hazards.
โ€ข Frequent exposure to extreme temperatures/adverse weather conditions, water, mud, dirt, grease, dust, industrial chemicals, hydraulic fluids, and loud noises.
โ€ข Heavy lifting up to 50 lbs.
โ€ข Use of all necessary personal protective equipment.
โ€ข Operate a company vehicle requiring a valid driver's license (driving record must meet company insurance standards and is reviewed annually).
โ€ข Overtime, varying schedules, extensive travel and overnight stays, may be required.
