FULL DESCRIPTION: We are seeking a Paralegal to support a primarily transactional estate planning law firm. This permanent, onsite role is responsible for meeting with clients, gathering estate planning information, drafting wills, trusts, deeds, powers of attorney, trust and estate administration documents, engagement letters, and related legal documentation. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree, paralegal certificate, strong Microsoft Office skills, excellent communication abilities, client-facing confidence, attention to detail, and an interest in estate planning, probate, trust administration, debt collection defense, and business law.

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Meeting with clients to learn about their family, finances, and wishes for estate planning purposes
  • Gathering required information for estate plans
  • Drafting estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, deeds, and powers of attorney
  • Drafting trust and estate administration documents
  • Supporting probate, trust administration, debt collection defense, and business law matters as needed
  • Quoting legal fees to clients and inviting them to move forward with firm services
  • Meeting with clients to gather information regarding assets, liabilities, loans, monthly income, and monthly expenses
  • Participating in conference calls with clients and creditors
  • Negotiating with creditors on behalf of clients, independently at first and under attorney supervision when appropriate
  • Assisting clients with questions regarding retirement accounts
  • Calling retirement companies with clients to gather additional information and answers
  • Printing and scanning legal documents
  • Reviewing legal documents and correcting typographical errors
  • Writing engagement letters and providing clients with signed agreements
  • Drafting and submitting bills to clients, excluding collections
  • Attending networking events and tradeshows with the attorney as needed
  • Performing legal research and administrative tasks
  • Maintaining accurate client files, documentation, and correspondence
  • Communicating professionally with clients, attorneys, and internal team members
  • Supporting a cooperative, client-focused office environment
  • Performing other duties as assigned

The selected candidate will also possess:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Paralegal certificate required
  • Ability to provide a copy of paralegal certificate required
  • Prior trust and estate law experience appreciated, but not required
  • Estate planning experience preferred
  • Probate or trust administration experience preferred
  • Transactional legal experience preferred
  • Professional experience with Microsoft Word required
