Position Summary:
The HRIS Analyst is an experienced HCM functional and technical resource responsible for supporting, configuring, maintaining, and improving HCM systems and related processes. This role partners with HR, Payroll, Benefits, Education, Org Development, IT, Operations, Finance, and other business stakeholders to translate business needs into secure, scalable, and efficient Workday solutions. The HRIS Analyst provides advanced support for Workday security, business process configuration, reporting, organization management, report scheduling, compliance reporting, external data submissions, and HR process automation.
Key Responsibilities:
Workday Security Configuration and Governance
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Workday security groups, domain security policies, business process security policies, role assignments, and related access controls.
  • Evaluate security requests to ensure access is appropriate, compliant, and aligned with business need, segregation of duties, and least-privilege principles.
  • Develop and maintain roles, user-based security, segmented security, intersection security, and other security-related configurations.

Business Process Configuration and Automation
  • Configure and maintain custom Workday business processes, condition rules, notifications, approvals, validations, and routing logic to support the organization.
  • Design, test, and deploy automation solutions using Workday functionality, EIBs, document distribution, and related tools.
  • Partner with stakeholders to gather requirements, document process design, test configuration changes, support deployment, and communicate impacts to affected users.

Reporting and Analytics
  • Develop and maintain custom Workday reports, including advanced reports, matrix reports, composite reports, calculated fields, and report security.
  • Analyze reporting requirements and translate business questions into accurate reporting.
  • Validate report outputs against source data and business rules to ensure accuracy, completeness, and usability.
  • Maintain and audit scheduled reports, report security, and report delivery.
  • Prepare, validate, and support compliance-related HR data reporting for internal reviews, audits, regulatory requirements, and external reporting obligations.
  • Compile, format, and submit required HRIS data files or reports to approved external parties, vendors, agencies, or business partners.

Location Management
  • Maintain, and update Workday location, supervisory organization, and cost centers.
  • Support reorganizations, location updates, cost center changes, and related redistricting/reorganization activities.
  • Plan for and communicate impacts of organization and cost center changes on security, reporting, business process routing, integrations, payroll, and operational processes.

HRIS Support, Testing, and Continuous Improvement
  • Provide advanced functional support for Workday inquiries, configuration issues, reporting questions, data discrepancies, and process escalations.
  • Participate in Workday releases, tenant refreshes, system updates, regression testing, and deployment activities.
  • Auditing and maintenance of HCM system. Cleaning orphaned business processes, unused reports, and other technical debt maintenance.
  • Create and maintain documentation for configuration, security decisions, report logic, recurring processes, support procedures, and user-facing guidance.

Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience supporting and configuring Workday HCM, including security, business processes, reporting, organizations, and related administrative functions.
  • Strong understanding of HR data, organizational structures, business process routing, and security impacts.
  • Experience creating and maintaining Workday reports, calculated fields, and dashboards.
  • Ability to evaluate complex requests, gather requirements, document solutions, test thoroughly, and communicate effectively with non-technical audiences.
  • Experience with change management processes and ticketing systems to manage work.
