Construction Manager Data Center

Position Summary

BNS Networks is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to lead and oversee construction projects within active data center environments. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record managing mission-critical facility projects, including white space buildouts, electrical and mechanical infrastructure installations, tenant improvements, and critical power and cooling system upgrades.
This role is responsible for coordinating subcontractors, managing schedules and budgets, ensuring safety and quality compliance, and serving as the primary field representative for project execution. The Construction Manager will work closely with clients, engineers, project managers, and field teams to deliver projects safely, on schedule, and within budget.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Project Management

  • Manage all phases of data center construction projects from pre-construction through project closeout.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, milestones, and resource plans.
  • Monitor project progress and proactively resolve scheduling, quality, and resource challenges.
  • Coordinate project activities with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Conduct regular project meetings and provide status updates to leadership and customers.
Data Center Construction Oversight

  • Manage buildouts within active mission-critical facilities.
  • Coordinate installation activities involving:
    • Electrical distribution systems
    • UPS systems
    • Switchgear
    • Busway systems
    • PDUs and RPPs
    • Cooling and HVAC infrastructure
    • Structured cabling infrastructure
    • Containment systems
  • Ensure compliance with customer operating procedures and change management requirements.
  • Coordinate work activities to minimize impact on critical operations.
Field Leadership

  • Direct subcontractors and field personnel to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.
  • Conduct site walks and quality inspections.
  • Verify work complies with construction documents, specifications, and industry standards.
  • Identify and resolve field conflicts before they impact project delivery.
Safety and Compliance

  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and customer-specific safety requirements.
  • Participate in safety audits, toolbox talks, and incident investigations.
  • Maintain project documentation, permits, and compliance records.
Financial Management

  • Monitor project budgets and labor utilization.
  • Review subcontractor proposals and change orders.
  • Assist with project forecasting and cost tracking.
  • Identify opportunities to improve project efficiency and profitability.
Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of construction management experience.
  • 3+ years managing data center construction or mission-critical facility projects.
  • Experience coordinating electrical, mechanical, and technology trades in complex construction environments.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
  • Experience managing subcontractors and multiple concurrent projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing and critical path scheduling.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management software.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • 5 years of experience will be considered in lieu of a Degree
  • Experience with live/operational data center environments.
  • Knowledge of critical power systems, UPS systems, switchgear, generators, and cooling infrastructure.
  • OSHA 30 certification.
  • PMP or CCM certification is a plus.
  • Experience supporting hyperscale, colocation, enterprise, or government data center clients.
