Job description

Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced Senior Cyber Security Engineer to support the design, integration, and protection of enterprise information systems supporting critical national security missions. In this role, you will help architect secure, scalable solutions, integrate security throughout the system development lifecycle, and ensure compliance with evolving security requirements, regulations, and cloud technologies. You will also provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers while supporting complex government cybersecurity initiatives.

Key ResponsibilitiesCyber Security Engineering & Architecture
  • Design and integrate security requirements into enterprise information systems, applications, and technology solutions.
  • Support the design, development, modernization, and enhancement of new and legacy information systems.
  • Develop secure system architectures, security roadmaps, and implementation strategies aligned with mission objectives.
  • Translate operational, technical, and regulatory requirements into effective system security designs and engineering solutions.
Systems Engineering & Security Integration
  • Participate in all phases of the system development lifecycle to ensure security is incorporated from concept through implementation.
  • Conduct security-focused research and Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) to identify the most effective technologies and solutions.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend secure architectures that meet mission and compliance requirements.
  • Assist in developing long-term security investment strategies and architectural documentation.
Technical Leadership
  • Provide guidance and technical direction to mid-level and junior Cyber Security Engineers.
  • Support engineering teams in implementing cybersecurity best practices across cloud and on-premises environments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure secure system design and implementation.
QualificationsRequired Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
    • Four (4) additional years of relevant experience may be substituted for a degree, or two (2) additional years with a non-STEM degree.
  • 12+ years of Cyber Security Engineering experience within government or industry.
  • 5+ years of experience engineering cybersecurity solutions using cloud-based technologies.
  • DoD 8570 IASAE Level II certification (or equivalent compliance).
  • Experience supporting NGA/NRO joint integration activities.
  • Working knowledge of NGA IPO infrastructure.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance or the ability to obtain SCI eligibility and successfully pass a polygraph.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
  • 12+ years leading enterprise cybersecurity initiatives involving the architecture, design, development, and configuration of cloud and on-premises systems.
  • Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP) certification.
  • AWS Certified Security - Specialty certification.
  • Knowledge of AWS security services, data protection mechanisms, and encryption capabilities.
  • Understanding of security operations, risk management, and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Experience implementing or supporting DevSecOps methodologies and secure software development practices.

Target Salary Range$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations.
