BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring experienced Licensed Veterinary Technicians to work in our busy Emergency and Critical Care department at our Downtown, NY hospital, sign on bonus available!
BluePearl is looking for an energetic, determined, knowledge-seeking an Overnight Veterinary Technician for our emergency service. If you would love a three-day work week with a long weekend every week allowing for a more predictable schedule and great work-life balance. If you have a drive to expand your knowledge and skill set, and an excitement to further your anesthesia, surgery, CT, and scoping skills, then our Emergency Technician spot is the place for you!
This position is eligible for up to a $10,000 sign-on bonus, for qualified candidates.
Pay: $26.50 - $51.00 / hour
This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through our leveling system.
** Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience**
We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends.
*Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum.
For example:
  • Mon - Fri: 6pm to 8am = $4.50 Shift Differential
  • Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $6.00 Shift Differential
  • Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $4.50 Shift Differential

As a Veterinary Technician, you will:
  • Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital and follow them from ER treatment to admission in our intensive care unit.
  • Perform anesthesia for minor procedures like bite wound repairs, lacerations, etc.
  • Perform digital radiography, utilizing sedation and other restraint/positioning techniques.
  • Use your understanding of normal patient vital signs to monitor and identify patients who are at risk for arrest.
  • Have the opportunity to be certified in both BLS and ALS RECOVER CPR for free
  • Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
  • Be proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters.
  • Learn to place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
  • Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
  • Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.

Full-time VTS associates receive 12 hours of CE paid each year. Paid CE hours can be carried over year to year up to a maximum of 24 hours. Newly hired associates will receive a pro-rated amount of any CE benefit for which they are eligible.
