What is a full time CVT?

A Full Time CVT refers to a Certified Veterinary Technician who works full-time hours, typically 35-40 hours per week. CVTs are licensed professionals who assist veterinarians in medical procedures, patient care, lab work, and client communication. They play a vital role in animal hospitals and clinics, ensuring the well-being of animals and supporting the veterinary team. Full-time CVTs may work in various settings, including private practices, emergency clinics, or research facilities.

What are some common challenges faced by full-time CVTs in a busy veterinary practice?

Full-time CVTs in busy veterinary practices often encounter challenges such as managing a high caseload, multitasking between patient care and administrative duties, and handling emotional situations involving clients and their pets. Time management and effective communication with veterinarians and other staff are essential to ensure smooth workflow and quality care. Additionally, CVTs must stay current on best practices and continuing education to provide the best possible service in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a full-time cardiovascular technologist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a full-time Cardiovascular Technologist (CVT), you need a solid understanding of cardiovascular anatomy and procedures, usually supported by an associate degree in cardiovascular technology and relevant certification (such as RCIS or RCS). Familiarity with diagnostic imaging equipment, EKG machines, and electronic health record (EHR) systems is essential. Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure are important soft skills in this role. These competencies are crucial for accurate diagnostics, patient safety, and effective teamwork in high-stakes clinical environments.

Job description

Certified Veterinary Technician in Eau Claire, WI

Are you a Certified Veterinary Technician looking to join a team that values your skills, supports your growth, and treats each other like family? Look no further than Eau Claire Animal Hospital, where our legacy of compassionate, high-quality veterinary care has been going strong since 1962.

We are currently seeking a Full-Time CVT to join our close-knit team. At our hospital, technicians are highly utilized every day from placing IV catheters and performing blood draws to closely monitoring patients under anesthesia. You'll be empowered to use your full range of skills and contribute meaningfully to patient care.

Work-Life Balance Matters
Our general schedule is 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with a scheduled 1-hour lunch break each day, because we believe in taking care of our people as much as our patients.

A Team That Feels Like Home
We're more than just coworkers-we're a team that supports each other through and through.

  • Our Medical Director started here as a kennel technician, left for vet school, and returned, proof that this place really stays with you!
  • Jenna, our hospital manager, has been here for 9 years, after taking over for her mother who led the hospital for 20 years before her.
  • One of our doctors and a CSR have each been with us for 26 years, bringing unmatched experience and continuity to our team.

Why You'll Love Working Here

  • Modern facility: We moved into a new building 15 years ago and recently remodeled to accommodate our growth.
  • Optional training in exotics: While our practice includes exotic animals, working with them is not required-but training is available if you're interested!
  • Strong technician support: We ensure our CVTs are respected, heard, and valued.

Our compensation package includes starting pay at $21 - $25 per hour with a $1200 sign-on bonus. We offer a great benefits package including, but not limited to: health insurance (vision, medical, dental, with company HSA contribution), life and disability insurance, 401K with company match, PTO, generous CE, reimbursement for membership dues and license fees, uniform allowance, and more.

Come Join Our Team
If you're ready to grow your career in a practice where your skills make a difference every single day-and where the people around you feel more like friends than coworkers-we'd love to hear from you!
