Job description

Primary Responsibilities

The Cook ensures that the resident meals are properly prepared and apportioned according to the resident's diet specifications, facility procedures, and prescribed dietary and sanitary regulations.

Essential Functions

  • Prepared food items on assigned/scheduled menus
  • Maintains sanitation of equipment and utensils, work area, storage, area, and serving area
  • Follow proper food handling procedures

Educational/Training Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Licensing Requirements

  • Texas Food Handler Certificate is preferred

Experience Requirements

  • Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and hygienic methods
  • Knowledge of Universal Precautions and rules that govern hazardous waste
  • Previous experience in skilled nursing facility is preferred
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions
