Description
Fabian Oil is currently seeking a Full-Time or Part-Time Cashier to join our convenience store team in Oakland, ME. Our team is responsible for making sure that our customer needs are being met. As a Convenience Store Clerk (CSC) your duties will include working with customers both over the phone and in-person answering product questions and cashing out in-person customers. The CSC will also be responsible for product placements, organization, and general maintenance.

Flexible Hours and Shifts!
1st Shift - Opening: 5:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
2nd Shift - Closing: 11:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.
Split shifts also available
Weekend hours available
A Convenience Store Clerk should expect to perform all the following duties daily:
  • Receive customers and assist them with the selection of merchandise.
  • Greet, interact, and monitor customers to assist the store in loss prevention.
  • Display and organize products in a store for the customers to locate easily.
  • Help customers in billing and payment processes at the stores counter.
  • Communicate information about product availability, nutritional information, and ingredients.
  • Maintain the outlook of the store through dusting, cleaning, and restocking merchandise on the shelves.
  • Other tasks as requested by management.

The ideal candidate for a Convenience Store Clerk position should possess and demonstrate professional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. They will have strong analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills and be able to effectively manage their time. A successful candidate will have the ability to adapt to change, work as part of a team and perform work responsibilities independently.

Requirements:
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • All associates will be expected to wear appropriate clothing and present a clean, neat, and professional appearance.
  • During colder months, you may be required to dress in a manner that allows you to withstand long periods of time outdoors.
  • The job requires that you remain on your feet throughout your shift, with a lot of movement between the counter, sales area & fuel islands. The job requires that you properly stock the cooler with some heavy lifting required (cases of beer, soda, etc.). Note: The cooler temperature is between 34 to 36 degrees.
  • There are no designated or formal rest periods. Associates are given time to eat and rest, as business dictates, and are paid for that time. During unusually busy days, periods of rest are sporadic and limited.
  • Associates must be flexible about the hours and days they are asked to work. They must be willing to stay longer when requested and fill in for others when needed.
  • Associates must be capable of working under stress and pressure, especially during rush hours.
  • Associates will be required to keep themselves busy during slow periods with cleaning projects. Such projects include, but are not limited to cleaning fuel pumps, sweeping, painting, shoveling snow, stocking merchandise, washing windows, cleaning restrooms, cleaning shelving etc.
