Water Resources Engineer

Full Time/Contractor

Job Summary:

The Water Resources Engineer is responsible for planning, designing, and managing water resource projects within an engineering design, consulting, and management services firm. This role involves conducting hydrological and hydraulic analyses, developing water management strategies, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. The Water Resources Engineer will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative solutions that address water-related challenges for clients in various sectors.

Essential Duties:

  • Conduct hydrological and hydraulic modeling to assess water flow, quality, and availability in various projects.
  • Design and evaluate water resource systems, including stormwater management, flood control, and water supply systems.
  • Develop and implement water management plans and strategies that align with regulatory requirements and sustainability goals.
  • Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to gather project requirements and ensure compliance with environmental standards.
  • Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, and project proposals, presenting findings and recommendations to clients and stakeholders.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful project delivery within scope and schedule.
  • Conduct field investigations and site assessments to collect data and evaluate existing water resource conditions.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best water resource management practices.

Requirements:

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering
  • M.S. in Water Resources preferred
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • PE/EIT certification preferred
  • Entry level to 5 years of stormwater management, civil site design-related experience
  • Required experience in MS Office, AutoCAD
  • Preferred software experience in ArcGIS, AutoCAD/Civil 3D, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, ICPR
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Bilingual, strong written and verbal communication
  • Self-driven, analytical, able to follow directions and contribute to the team

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of hydrology, hydraulics, and water resource management principles
  • Proficient in water modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM) and GIS applications
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and develop innovative solutions
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in technical documentation and reporting
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and project management software

Job Type: Full-time in Puerto Rico or Professional Services Contract
