Inner Circle Agency is hiring on behalf of a well-established engineering and manufacturing organization specializing in power distribution and electrical infrastructure. The company supports critical industries including energy, telecommunications, and industrial systems, delivering high-performance, safety-compliant solutions.


Role Overview:

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Electrical Design Engineer to design low voltage switchboards and panelboards. This role is based in the Charleston area, with relocation support available for the right candidate. You will play a key role in developing complex electrical systems and collaborating with cross-functional teams to bring designs from concept to production.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Design low voltage switchboards and panelboards in compliance with applicable standards and regulations

  • Create 3D sheet metal components and flat patterns

  • Develop complex 3D assemblies with large multi-component BOMs

  • Produce wiring diagrams including PLCs, relays, breakers, and power systems

  • Generate 2D drawings including layouts, single-line diagrams, and front views

  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and vendors to ensure accurate execution

  • Translate client requirements into practical and efficient design solutions


Qualifications:Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or related field)

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in an electro-mechanical or similar environment

  • Strong proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software (Autodesk preferred)

  • Solid understanding of electrical systems and design principles

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Preferred:
  • Experience with UL standards (UL891, UL67, UL508A, UL1558)

  • Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC)

  • Experience sizing conductors and overcurrent protection devices (OCPDs)

  • Knowledge of control circuits and electrical logic
