Founded in 1993, The Hume Center is a federally certified Community Mental Health Center (CMHC) that provides comprehensive behavioral health services through 20 programs across five clinics, several School Based satellite clinics, and community offices in Alameda and Contra Costa counties. Description of Job
We are seeking a Director of Information Systems & Data (DISD) to lead and optimize our technology ecosystem with clarity, structure, and purpose. This role ensures that systems operate efficiently, data is accurate and accessible, and teams across the organization are equipped with the tools and insights needed to perform effectively-without unnecessary complexity.
The DISD will oversee information systems, data management and reporting, and IT support functions, while maintaining strong cybersecurity practices and system reliability. This role plays a key part in both technology optimization and strategic initiatives, partnering closely with departments and leadership to translate systems and data into practical solutions that enhance operational efficiency and support informed decision-making.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and solutions-driven-capable of managing day-to-day operations while also leading system improvements, vendor-supported projects, and organization-wide adoption efforts. This individual will bring a strong ability to connect data and systems to real-world application, while fostering a culture of clarity, accountability, and continuous improvement aligned with Hume's mission and values.
Minimum Requirements
  1. Work full time, and must be willing to work evenings/weekends as needed.
  2. Willing to work in-person in Hume Center clinics/offices five days a week. Demonstrate knowledge for representation of The Hume Center.
  3. Possess a valid California Driver's license. Must be willing to use own vehicle and have valid car insurance for work related travel. This job requires travel between clinics and community sites in Contra Costa and/or Alameda Counties..
  4. Be willing to use your own cell phone to be accessible and willing to be available to receive calls for crisis and/or emergency situations with supervisors and relevant colleagues.
  5. A history of maintaining confidentiality and discretion in all professional relationships
  6. Proficient in using GSuite (including Gmail, Drive, Sheets, Slides, etc), various Microsoft programs (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Electronic Health Records (EHR)
  7. Knowledge of data analysis platforms and producing data related reports.
  8. Ability to pass pre-employment background check, Physical, and TB clearance

  1. Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, Health Informatics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  2. Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience in IT management and data reporting

Responsibilities and Duties
The Director of Information Systems & Data (DISD) is responsible for the oversight, administration, and continuous improvement of The Hume Center's information systems and data infrastructure. This role ensures that systems are efficient, secure, compliant with all applicable regulations, and aligned with the organization's operational and strategic needs. The DISD provides leadership in system implementation, project coordination, policy and procedure development, and data management to support effective and reliable use of organizational platforms.
The DISD partners closely with the Vice President of Operations and the Executive & Senior Leadership Team (ESLT) to lead and support strategic initiatives focused on technology optimization, data analysis, reporting and utilization, for operational efficiency. A key function of this role is to translate complex system and data outputs into clear, actionable insights that support decision-making across management, executive leadership, and Board-level reporting. The position emphasizes cross-functional collaboration, effective execution of system-related projects, and the delivery of accurate and timely data to inform organizational performance.
An essential component of this role is developing a deep understanding of Hume Center's culture, programs, and workflows. The DISD conducts needs assessments, partners with departments to identify opportunities for improvement, and ensures systems and data solutions effectively support the organization's growth and evolving needs.
Strategic Initiatives & Organizational Alignment
  • Lead and support cross-functional strategic initiatives related to systems, data, and operational efficiency
  • Partner with executive leadership to align systems and reporting to achieve organizational goals
  • Support the development of data-driven strategies to improve performance across programs and departments
  • Will have responsibilities for identifying cost-effective software solutions to improve data gathering and reporting, along with budget monitoring and demonstrating return on investment.

Technology Optimization & Systems Oversight

  • Meet with the Supervisors on a weekly basis for individual supervision
  • Demonstrate an understanding of The Hume Center's Philosophy, Organizational Culture, and Organizational Channels of Communication through practicing an enabling model of working together
