Position Summary
This position will be assigned to Task 6: RadiationEffects Testing on State-of-the-Art COTS Components, where the candidate will lead testdevelopment, benchmarking, and analysis of advanced processing platforms-suchas the NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX-for use in radiation-exposed space missions. Thesetasks are essential to ADASTRA's goal of identifying and qualifyinghigh-performance edge computing technologies that can support AI/ML workloadsin orbit under extreme conditions.

Conditions of Employment
  • Professional Engineer (PE) may be required, depending upon field of expertise.
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a directly related field; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Computer Engineering or a closely related discipline, completed by the date of appointment.
  • Coursework and hands-on experience in embedded systems, radiation effects testing, and spaceborne computing platforms, with an emphasis on system resilience and data integrity in extreme environments.
  • Active Secret-level security clearance, enabling immediate participation in classified and export-controlled work.
  • Strong technical skills in:
    • Programming languages including Python, C, C++, and BASH.
    • Development and automation of data acquisition systems for power and radiation testing.
    • Benchmarking and logging frameworks for high-performance computing hardware.
    • Modeling and simulation tools relevant to power and performance analysis of space-grade systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in:
    • Executing radiation effects testing at national facilities.
    • Developing and supporting test infrastructure software.
    • Contributing to federally funded research dissemination through peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations.
  • Established collaborative experience with AFRL and prior involvement in AFRL-funded projects.
