Position Summary The Supply Trading Specialist โ€“ Propylene is a key commercial role within the Natural Gas / NGL / Petrochemicals Value Chain, reporting to the Supply Trading Manager โ€“ Olefins. This position is responsible for the day-to-day commercial management and optimization of Refinery Grade, Chemical Grade, and Polymer Grade Propylene produced by MPC. The role combines market analytics, customer engagement, and trading execution to maximize the value of MPC-produced propylene. The Specialist assesses market conditions, identifies profitable placement opportunities, negotiates commercial agreements, and proactively develops new organic growth opportunities to enhance margin and expand market optionality. Working collaboratively across Commercial and Operating organizations, this position leverages strong market insight and disciplined execution to maximize value chain performance. Key Responsibilities Manage day-to-day commercial activities for the assigned propylene supply trading desk. Optimize placement of MPC-produced propylene through a balanced portfolio of term contracts and spot transactions. Assess market fundamentals, pricing trends, supply/demand dynamics, and arbitrage opportunities to inform trading strategy. Execute physical trades in alignment with established risk management guidelines and commercial guardrails. Negotiate and structure spot and long-term contracts to enhance margin, flexibility, and risk mitigation. Identify and develop new organic growth opportunities, including new customers, expanded market outlets, and incremental spot opportunities. Maintain strong customer relationships to strengthen commercial positioning and long-term value creation. Partner with Operating organizations to align commercial strategy with refinery production, logistics capabilities, and operational constraints. Provide market intelligence and commercial insight to support production planning and integrated decisionโ€making. Monitor exposure, inventory positions, and working capital impacts to ensure disciplined commercial execution. Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance market optionality, commercial agility, and overall value chain performance. Education and Experience Supply Trading Specialist Bachelor's Degree required Three (3) or more years of experience in commodity trading, supply and logistics, commercial operations, marketing, business development, refining economics and planning, scheduling, or other related commercial functions. Experience with contract negotiation, product movement, supply chain activities, commercial decisionโ€making, and/or profit and loss responsibilities is preferred. Senior Supply Trading Specialist Bachelor's Degree required Five (5) or more years of experience in commodity trading, supply and logistics, commercial operations, marketing, business development, refining economics and planning, scheduling, or other related commercial functions. Demonstrated experience in commercial decisionโ€making, contract negotiation, product movement, supply chain optimization, and/or profit and loss responsibility is preferred.
