Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to join the Technology team in Washington DC, supporting NBC4 and Telemundo Local 44. As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will have multi-focused responsibilities.  This includes responsibility for implementing and supporting technology and users within our mission critical, media production and enterprise IT environment.  In addition, it includes project management that will help ensure structure, implementation, and follow up on all project specific initiatives.  If you have a passion for technology, love leading projects, enjoy working with people, and want to make a positive impact while being a part of a high performing team working at the leading edge of media technology, you could be the perfect match for our team.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Manager of Technology to determine requirements gathering, planning, and implementation of technical and workflow solutions for News, Production, Creative Services and other station partners.
  • Administration of media production applications, systems and infrastructure, ensuring reliability of technology and operations.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation for operational and troubleshooting purposes.
  • Provide technical support, incident response, and customer communication.
  • Ensure compliance with NBCUniversal cyber security policies and standards.
  • Own the end-to-end lifecycle of complex engineering projects, from requirements gathering and technical design through implementation, testing, and post-launch support, partnering with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions on time and aligned with business objectives. All other duties as assigned.
  • Required onsite. This position is required to be performed full time onsite from an NBCUniversal designated work site.
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience with minimum of 1 year Project Management experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, radio, television & film, related fields or equivalent experience.

Skills & Experience we are looking for:

  • CCNA Certification is desirable
  • Experience with Project Management tools such as Jira, Asana or similar
  • Support of mid to major market news or live event production operations & 24x7 mission critical technology facilities.
  • Expertise in planning, implementation and support of media technology including SDI, NDI and ST-2110 video infrastructures, contribution & distribution encoding, live production systems, news gathering tools, NRCS, NLE, media asset management, and transmission systems.
  • Expertise in core IT fundamentals including administration of physical / virtualized / cloud compute & storage, networking, domain & identity management.
