Job Title: Equipment Operator – Grading

Location: Wilmington, NC

Employment Type: Full-Time


Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Equipment Operator – Grading to join our team. This position is responsible for operating heavy equipment to perform rough and fine grading for site development projects. The ideal candidate has experience establishing proper grade, working from plans, and operating safely and efficiently in a fast-paced construction environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate equipment such as dozers, motor graders, excavators, skid steers, and compactors
  • Perform rough and fine grading for building pads, roadways, and site development
  • Read and interpret blueprints, grade stakes, and site plans
  • Establish and maintain proper elevations and slopes
  • Conduct daily equipment inspections and routine maintenance
  • Work closely with foreman, surveyors, and crew members
  • Maintain safe job site operations and follow OSHA guidelines
  • Assist with other site work as needed

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of grading experience preferred
  • Ability to read and understand grade stakes and site plans
  • Experience with GPS machine control systems is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and safety
  • Valid driver’s license required (CDL preferred but not required)
  • Reliable transportation

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to climb in and out of equipment multiple times per day
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds when assisting crew
