Description

SAIC is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Systems Engineer to join our team supporting the USMC in Hanahan, SC. The ideal candidate will leverage their technical expertise to design, develop, test, and integrate systems that enhance the performance and reliability of the Combat Data Network or MAGTF Common Handheld for mission-critical operations. This role requires strong analytical skills, collaborative teamwork, and a deep understanding of system engineering standards and practices in support of Department of Defense (DoD) mission systems.

Job Duties:

  • Provide systems engineering support for the development, integration, testing, and sustainment of CDN or MCH systems.
  • Conduct detailed systems analysis to define system design architecture, specifications, and operational workflows aligned with customer requirements.
  • Design, document, and manage technical baselines, ensuring adherence to DoD standards and best practices.
  • Develop and execute system test plans, integration procedures, and documentation to verify functional and performance requirements.
  • Collaborate with other engineering and technical teams (network engineers, software developers, cybersecurity professionals) to ensure seamless system functionality.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, including failure analyses, and recommend corrective actions to address performance gaps.
  • Apply cybersecurity principles to ensure systems align with DoD RMF (Risk Management Framework) requirements, standards, and accreditation processes.
  • Support system lifecycle processes, including requirements analysis, risk mitigation, configuration management, and documentation updates.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members, as needed.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, including government program managers, to ensure deliverables meet mission objectives and timelines.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with two (2) years of relevant experience. Four (4) years of experience in lieu of degree. 
  • Experience in systems engineering, preferably in a DoD or federal environment.
  • Strong experience with systems design, analysis, integration, and testing in complex operational environments.
  • Knowledge of networking and communication concepts (TCP/IP, firewalls, routers, switches) relevant to the CDN or MCH.
  • Experience in applying DoD cybersecurity best practices, including Risk Management Framework (RMF) alignment and system accreditation processes.
  • Proven ability to work in fast-paced environments and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare and present technical documentation and briefings effectively.

Required Security Clearance:

  • No security clearance required on first day of employment but be able to obtain and maintain a secret clearance.
