Summary
CME is seeking a GPR Technician to join our team. This role involves using advanced technology to locate and map underground utilities, supporting safe and accurate excavation. The ideal candidate has strong technical skills, a solid understanding of utility systems, and can work both independently and collaboratively under the supervision of a Licensed Engineer.
Responsibilities
  • Use electromagnetic locating equipment to identify and mark underground utilities including water, sewer, gas, electric, and communication lines.
  • Operate GPR systems to detect and map subsurface structures, objects, and anomalies. Analyze GPR data to provide accurate reports and interpretations.
  • Review and interpret data from utility locate and GPR systems, creating detailed maps and reports for use in planning and excavation.
  • Conduct field surveys and inspections to verify utility locations and assess site conditions.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of utility locations, GPR data, and field observations.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and standards to ensure safe working conditions on job sites. Report any potential hazards or safety concerns.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, providing clear explanations of findings and recommendations.
  • Perform routine maintenance and calibration of utility locating and GPR equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Work closely with engineers, project managers, and other team members to support project requirements and objectives.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent, along with technical certification in utility locating and GPR technology. Bachelor's or associate degree in geology, civil engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in utility locating, ground penetrating radar, or a related field. Experience in construction or civil engineering is a plus.
  • Proficiency in operating utility locating equipment and GPR systems. Ability to analyze and interpret data from these technologies.
  • Strong understanding of underground utility systems, mapping techniques, and safety regulations.
  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including outdoor sites and confined spaces. Must be able to lift and carry equipment as needed.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail in data collection and reporting.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Certifications in utility locating or GPR technology are highly desirable.

Compensation: $25/hour
Working Conditions
  • This position involves working outdoors in varying weather conditions and potentially hazardous environments.
  • May require occasional travel to different job sites.
  • The role may involve early morning starts and extended hours.
