Utility Operator I

Department: Office of Public Utilities
Division: Supervisor - Material Handling

Work Hours: This position requires shift work
Starting Rate: $30.4261/hour
Eligibility Requirements: Open to All Applicants

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Relieve FGDS WWTP Operators and Material Handling Operators as required at Dallman Generating Station or other areas as required.
  • Keep operational log and performs hourly readings as directed.
  • Assist in keeping assigned work areas clean and safe.
  • Work with Buildings and Grounds and Maintenance crews as plant needs require.
  • Report all unfavorable conditions in writing to the Supervisor of Generation and or designated Supervisor

Required Qualifications:
Theideal candidate will possess knowledge, skill, and mental developmentequivalent to high school diploma or GED. Operational knowledge and experienceat a power plant station or industrial process with heavy equipment experiencepreferred. Applicants will be trained in HAZMAT certification and must be ableto wear a respirator, remain in compliance with the Facial Hair Policy and beable to work in adverse conditions and dusty environments. This position issubject to rotating shifts including 7:00am-3:00pm, 3:00pm-11:00pm and 11:00pm-7:00amwith weekends and holidays. Shifts can be changed with a six (6) hour notice.
This position requires shift work
Preference for employment in all positions with the city shall be given to applicants who are full-time city residents.
To be eligible to apply, current City employees must have completed their probationary period and attained certified status in their current position.
