CITY CAMP GROUP ASSISTANT (SEASONAL/SUMMER)
The Milwaukee Rescue Mission (MRM) runs a 6-week day camp for youth K4-7th grade at our North Campus, June 15th-July 24th. MRM provides students with breakfast and lunch, engaging curriculum in reading and math, Bible themes, fun recreational activities, and field trips on Friday.
We are seeking vibrant, enthusiastic, high-energy individuals, who have a love and passion to share Christ with children, to fill seasonal full-time Camp Group Assistant positions. Camp Assistants support Camp Group Leads throughout the day in a dynamic, fast-paced, upbeat environment. This includes supervision, instruction, mentoring, and participation with urban youth in recreational camp activities and field trips throughout the duration of City Camp.
PAY RATE: $16.50 Hourly
WORK SCHEDULE: Full-Time, Seasonal Position - June 10th through July 24th.
  • Staff orientation: June 10th - June 12th, 8:00am-4:00pm.
  • Camp runs Monday-Friday, 7:15am-3:15pm, June 15th - July 24th (off June 19th, July 2nd amp; July 3rd)
LOCATION: North Campus, 1530 W. Center Street, Milwaukee WI. 53206
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist Group Lead with any and all tasks related to the functions of the classroom
  • Help maintain a positive, Christian educational atmosphere
  • Reinforce lessons presented by teacher by connecting and working with students one-on-one
  • Supervise and interact with youth in class, between class, during lunch, recess, throughout camp activities, and on field trips
  • Support camp rules and approved disciplinary procedures
  • Keeping record of attitudes and behavior (score at the end of the day)
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Experience working with urban youth preferred
  • Passionate about youth and ministry with the ability and willingness to share the gospel
  • Culturally competent and relational with excellent communication and mentoring skills
  • Action-orientated, energetic, and adaptable with a strong work ethic
  • Strong classroom management skills
  • Enjoys interacting and creating a fun and safe environment for youth of all ages
  • Ability to work independently or in a team
  • Must be able to handle physical workload – ability to stand or sit for long periods of time, walking, stair climbing, kneeling, squatting, crouching, reaching, handling and gripping without difficulty, repetitive movement of both hands and arms, as well as occasional lifting or moving items with a maximum weight of 55lbs a short distance (ex: floor to shelf or cart), and pushing or pulling heavier items with the use of a cart or dolly.
  • A workplace demeanor consistent with a Christian church environment: civil, respectful, polite, and responsive
  • Be in agreement with and subscribe to the MRM Statement of Faith and the MRM Statement of Biblical Convictions
  • Be a committed follower of the Lord Jesus Christ, which is evident in personal testimony and Christian conduct
  • Pass a pre-employment background check and drug test
