Cohort Begins Mid-July 2026 | Colby, KS
Launch your career as a Diesel Technician-no prior experience required.
If you're looking for a hands-on career with strong earning potential and long-term stability, Foley Equipment's Fast Track Program offers a direct path into the diesel industry. In just 12 weeks, you'll gain paid training, real-world shop experience, and the opportunity to transition into a full-time Caterpillar technician role.
Foley Equipment is the authorized Caterpillar dealer in Kansas and northwest Missouri, with over 90 years of industry leadership.
About the Program
This is a full-time, paid 12-week internship designed to fast-track your entry into a technician career.
  • Start Date: Mid-July 2026 (exact date to be confirmed)
  • Phase 1: 6 weeks of paid classroom and lab training
  • Phase 2: 6 weeks of paid, hands-on shop experience
  • Work alongside experienced technicians and dedicated mentors
  • Receive Caterpillar dealer-specific technical training
  • Travel may be required, including 3-4 consecutive weekdays for off-site training during the program

Upon successful completion, you will be eligible for consideration for a full-time technician position.

Physical & Working Requirements
This role involves hands-on mechanical work in a shop environment. The employee must be able to perform essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodation. These functions may include:
  • Safely and repeatedly lifting components weighing up to 115 pounds without assistance
  • Safely lifting, carrying, and lowering components weighing up to 65 pounds without assistance
  • Frequent pushing, pulling, and carrying of heavy materials
  • Climbing on and off equipment and working at varying heights
  • Standing, bending, and working in physically demanding positions for extended periods
  • Safely operating tools and equipment

Post-Offer, Pre-Employment Requirements
Final candidates will receive a conditional offer of employment contingent upon successfully completing a post-offer, pre-employment process. This process may include:
  • Drug and alcohol screening (including marijuana, as Foley is a federal contractor and subject to federal requirements)
  • Criminal background check conducted in accordance with applicable laws
  • Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review, where applicable
  • Job-related physical assessment to evaluate ability to safely perform essential job functions
