  • Cash postings & deposits
    • Responsible for posting remittances and balancing all posted batches according to department procedures.
    • Ensure all payer and patient check/credit card payments are posted efficiently and accurately
    • Enter non-patient cash directly into General Ledger system
    • Collect patient payments for Radiology CDs
    • Resolve all Cash Office issues (patient, NEBH departments, payers and finance staff)
    • Receive and process all department daily deposits (cash bags)
    • Calculate and prepare the Brinks deposits
    • Assist Finance with financial audits
    • Manage petty cash requests
    • Research and process patient refunds
  • Cash reconciliations and reporting
    • Balance and post daily remittance batches for EFT payments
    • Resolve out of balance payment issues by working with PFS and payers
    • Follow all Cash Office security and audit procedures
    • Compare and balance morning cash reports with evening reports
    • Track and communicate monthly Medicare repayment totals to BILH Finance
    • Research system errors and suggest resolution
    • Report out upfront collection to Patient Access
    • Create cash spreadsheets
  • Customer service
    • Communicate with professional billing companies to resolve misapplied payments
    • Reverse bounced check postings from bank statements and notify patients
    • Communicate daily and monthly cash totals to Finance Department
    • Research chargebacks and communicate with upper management and patients
  • Credit card system management
    • Manage the credit card payment system by providing new users with access, education and reporting for both NEBH and NEBMA staff
  • Staff supervision and education
    • Communicate staffing issues and problems to management
    • Maintain employee relations and promote teamwork in the Cash Office
    • Train Cash Office employees on all new system processes
    • Manage Cash Office staffing assignments and vacation requests
    • Develop plans that improve efficiency within the Cash Office
  • Other Duties
    • Sort and distribute mail from Mail Room to all Finance Departments
