The Opportunity:
CACI is seeking a Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) Modernization Engineer to support PMS 321 in Washington, DC. The LCS modernization Engineer will provide leadership, communication and technical skills in systems engineering in support of the Littoral Combat Ship Modernization and Sustainment. This role involves supporting the development of modernization-related products, conducting shipyard visits, and participating in various modernization reviews and meetings. This role will have an expectation of
Responsibilities:
  • Support complex marine engineering tasks ranging from concept studies to preliminary, contract and detailed design, and through ship production and delivery
  • Interface directly with clients to provide modernization solutions, recommendations and ensure complete customer satisfaction
  • Assist in the development of modernization-related products including Statements of Work, weekly report inputs, Flag level presentations, point papers, and talking points
  • Develop POM issue papers, Advance Planning Letters, Letters of Authorization, Availability Duration Analysis, Upcoming Milestone Reports, and other availability, ship, or class-specific reports, messages, presentations, and correspondence
  • Track Pre-Availability and Post-Availability milestone completion status for each CNO Availability to ensure JFMM milestone compliance and proper advance planning
  • Conduct analysis on milestone completion and develop recommendations for process improvement or updating program elements in NDE

  • Specific duties consist of:
  • Availability Duration Scorecards - Putting together the overall ADS submission for 321 to include the most significant alterations for individual availabilities to include their required installation and testing durations, along with any notable impacts to the rest of the availability.
  • SURFMEPP Ship Sheets - Putting together the 321 submissions to include all alterations for LCS availabilities for the next 5 years to include to a variety of information including manhours, installation cost, duration, and location.
  • Surface Master Planner Support - Be apart of the 321 representation and provide supporting documentation for the discussion of dock loading, availability timing and requirements.
  • Availability Planning Sheets - Provide support for baseline status and weapons systems updates for the teamwide product weekly.
  • Small Business Innovation Research - Supports the 321 team with development of SBIR projects.
  • Any additional support for the government client included fielding plan change approvals, waterfall chart creations, and support for other parts of the team

Qualifications:
Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Ocean Engineering or Naval Architecture
  • Five years or more of experience in US Navy ship modernization, ship sustainment, marine or ocean engineering
  • Five years or more of experience in the Navy or Maritime Environment
  • Familiarization with NAVSEA programs
  • Good interpersonal skills to work with stakeholders, with project and other team members
  • A Secret clearance is the minimum requirement to begin employment
  • Skills in Microsoft Office
  • Good written and verbal (English) communication skills.
  • Familiar with US Navy and Regulatory Body Design Standards and Criteria
  • As a requirement of continued employment, you will be required to obtain a Secret Clearance
  • Experience with FEA software and AutoCAD
  • Expectation to support in office, WNY, at least 3 days per weeks

Desired:
  • Experience with American Bureau of Shipping Rules
  • Experience with Military Sealift Command Ships
  • Familiar with 3-D Product Model Software used during detailed construction
