What We Need:
  • Chelten House is seeking a Capital Project Engineer to support the planning, execution, and startup of capital projects across our manufacturing facilities. This position will work closely with Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Food Safety, and Continuous Improvement teams to deliver projects that improve safety, efficiency, reliability, and production capacity.
What You Will Do:
  • Support capital projects from concept development through installation, startup, and project closeout.
  • Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and technical specifications.
  • Coordinate contractors, vendors, consultants, and internal resources throughout project execution.
  • Track project costs, spending, timelines, and milestones.
  • Participate in equipment commissioning, FAT, and SAT activities.
  • Assist with equipment selection, facility upgrades, automation projects, and process improvements.
  • Develop and review equipment layouts, process flow diagrams, P amp;IDs, and engineering drawings.
  • Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis activities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve OEE, throughput, labor efficiency, waste reduction, energy consumption, and equipment reliability.
  • Ensure projects comply with GMP, SQF, FDA, USDA, and food safety requirements.
What You Need:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related Engineering discipline required.
  • 3–5 years of engineering, project engineering, or capital project experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience supporting capital projects from concept through startup and implementation.
  • Experience working with contractors, equipment suppliers, and cross-functional teams.
  • Hands-on troubleshooting experience with production, processing, packaging, or utility systems.
  • Food manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, TPM, or similar continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong project management, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, P amp;IDs, process flow diagrams, equipment layouts, and electrical schematics.
  • CAD and Microsoft Project experience preferred.
  • Physical Demands / Work Environment:
  • Ability to walk production floors and construction areas daily.
  • Ability to climb ladders and access elevated work areas when required.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to work in manufacturing, warehouse, utility, and office environments.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment.
