Job description

Bruker Nano, one of our four operating segments, empowers customers in academia, government, life sciences, and applied industries with the tools to uncover the properties of matter and visualize molecular structures. Our divisions span Nano Analytics, Nano Surfaces & Metrology, Fluorescence Microscopy, and Spatial Biology. A Repair Center Technician (RCT) primary role is responsible for repairing items returned for repair. This includes some evaluation/troubleshooting to a board level, soldering, part replacement, adhering parts for assembly, cleaning of parts, and testing/calibration of automated scanners and field replacement units (FRU) that are needed in the Service depots. Motivated to collaborate with the team, Engineers, and Administration, while following Policies throughout the repair process. Their secondary role is responsible for the integration, calibration, and testing of AAFM systems, accessories, and upgrades in a class 1 clean room environment. Each system is typically assembled and tested to a specific customer order requiring verification of compliance to system specifications, accuracy of configuration, and timeliness of completion. This job includes trouble shooting and correcting of mechanical and electrical problems and requires skill in these areas. The individual collaborates with MEs and Software Development to improve product quality and processes. The job requires the individual to actively update testing requirements to ensure all potential qualities issues are addressed during final testing. The individual aids in determining root cause and implementing corrective actions related to IBQ/NCMRs. The position requires on the spot trouble shooting and repair to ensure orders are shipped on time. The position requires an ability to work independently or as part of a team. Responsibilities ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Test and calibrate repaired items to ensure proper operation and conformance to calibration standards. 40% 2. Integration, calibration, and testing of AAFM systems, accessories, and upgrades in a class 1 clean room environment. 25% 3. Utilize SAP to document the repairs steps, parts used, calibration results, failure analysis of repairs performed. 10% 4. Evaluate items received from the field for repair, this includes functionality of equipment and physical appearance. 10% 5. Cross train as needed to balance out the cross-training matrix so that the repair center has adequate coverage of personnel to repair as compared to frequency of repairs. 10% ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: - Request parts from stock utilizing appropriate methods. - Provide detailed input as to faults found for failure analysis. - Work with R&D on Manufacturing Engineering as needed to facilitate corrective actions. - Other duties as assigned. PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS: - Good eyesight - Exceptional hand dexterity for small parts assembly - Ability to lift 60 pounds - Alert to the environment to avoid hazards in the workplace. - Orderly, keeping work environment clean and organized. Qualifications KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: - Precision Soldering Skills - SAP experience - ESD certified / trained - Mechanically inclined - Ability to use multi-meters, O-scope - Critical attention to minute details - Punctual and reliable EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Typically requires 4-6 years of related experience in a manufacturing testing environment. The base salary for the role will depend on several job-related factors, including, but not limited to education, training, experience, the geographic location of the successful candidate, skills, competencies, job-related knowledge and travel requirements for this position.
