Initial Location: Columbus, OH (Training) Permanent Location: Richmond, VA

James Blinds is expandingโ€”and weโ€™re looking for our first hire at our brand-new Richmond, VA location! If youโ€™re looking for a career that combines technical skill, project leadership, and growth opportunity, we want to hear from you.

Note: This role requires 2โ€“4 weeks of paid training in Columbus, Ohio prior to starting in Richmond.

About the Role
As an Associate Installer, you'll independently install blinds and manage medium-difficulty commercial installation projects. Youโ€™ll be a key player in building our reputation at this new location, supported by structured training and hands-on mentorship.

Responsibilities

  • Lead on-site installations for commercial window treatment projects.
  • Organize and maintain a warehouse space and inventory of blinds.
  • Accurately read blueprints and interpret manufacturer specifications.
  • Measure, cut, and shorten blinds as needed for a perfect fit.
  • Maintain a clean, professional work environment on site.
  • Follow OSHA safety guidelines and company protocols.
  • Complete job site reports documenting progress, challenges, and solutions.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and team members to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Travel to surrounding regions for jobs as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Window treatment installation experience strongly preferred.
  • At least 6โ€“12 months of related installation or construction experience.
  • Prior experience leading or mentoring a small team is a plus.
  • Comfortable using power tools, ladders, scaffolding, and measuring equipment.
  • Strong communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driverโ€™s license with a clean driving record.

Education

  • High school diploma or GED required.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Regular use of ladders and scaffolding at varying heights.
  • Comfortable working at heights and in physically active conditions.
  • Occasional evenings/weekends based on project timelines.
