Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Biosecurity amp; Animal Welfare Technician to join our team. This role is essential in ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of our swine herds through strict adherence to biosecurity protocols and animal welfare standards.
Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce and monitor farm biosecurity protocols to prevent disease introduction and spread
  • Perform routine health checks and welfare assessments of livestock
  • Assist with handling, movement, and care of pigs in a humane and low-stress manner
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of facilities, equipment, and entry points
  • Record and report health observations, treatments, and biosecurity compliance
  • Educate and remind team members and visitors about biosecurity procedures
  • Support audits related to animal welfare and safety standards
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (agriculture or animal science background preferred)
  • Experience with livestock (especially swine) is a plus, but not required
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to following protocols
  • Ability to work in farm environments (dust, odors, varying temperatures)
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends/holidays if needed
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Comfortable standing, walking, and working on your feet for extended periods
  • Capable of working in a physically active environment
