Job description

At MM Solutions, we build highly customized solutions for some of the world’s most demanding industries, including aerospace, defense, medical devices, and advanced technology manufacturing.


We are seeking an experienced Engineering & Design Manager to lead a team of Designers and Mechanical Engineers responsible for developing custom packaging and transportation solutions for high-value, technically complex products.


This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys balancing engineering excellence, customer collaboration, manufacturability, and team development. You will guide projects from concept through production while helping shape the future of our engineering organization.


If you enjoy solving real-world manufacturing challenges, leading technical teams, and working directly with customers on one-of-a-kind projects, this role offers significant visibility and impact.


What You’ll Do

Lead and Develop the Engineering Team

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Designers and Mechanical Engineers
  • Drive projects from concept through manufacturing implementation
  • Help improve engineering workflows, tools, and cross-functional collaboration
  • Support career development, performance management, and technical mentorship
  • Foster a practical, collaborative engineering culture focused on accountability and problem-solving


Engineer Custom Solutions

  • Design custom packaging and transportation solutions for aerospace, defense, biomedical, and advanced manufacturing customers
  • Translate customer requirements into manufacturable designs and production documentation
  • Create CAD models, drawings, BOMs, cut lists, and engineering documentation
  • Balance customer requirements, manufacturability, schedule, and cost constraints
  • Support prototyping, quoting, and concept development activities


Partner with Customers and Operations

  • Collaborate directly with customers to understand technical requirements and project goals
  • Support the sales process with technical expertise and engineering input
  • Work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are practical and buildable
  • Coordinate with suppliers to identify materials and manufacturing solutions that support project timelines


What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of engineering leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong experience with:
    • SolidWorks
    • Design for Manufacturability (DFM)
    • GD&T
    • Engineering drawings and production documentation
  • Ability to lead technical teams while remaining hands-on in engineering work
  • Strong communication and customer-facing skills
  • Experience managing multiple custom projects simultaneously


Bonus Experience (Preferred, not Required)

  • Aerospace, defense, medical device, or highly regulated manufacturing environments
  • SolidWorks Simulation
  • AutoCAD Mechanical
  • Fabrication, machining, or custom manufacturing processes
