Role description:

Arcadis is looking for a Civil Engineer to support our Southeast region. This role can be based out of any of the following Arcadis offices: Cary, Charlotte, or Greensboro, North Carolina.

The candidate in this role will perform site civil design and project management tasks for a variety of projects in the region. Tasks may include site layouts, grading, hydraulic modeling, utility design, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control design, and task/project management. 

Role accountabilities:

This Civil Engineer will be responsible for leading site civil design and permitting efforts for industrial, pharmaceutical, and municipal facilities, including water/wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, and utility transmission and distribution projects. The position manages the planning, design, and permitting process to ensure all work complies with contracts, drawings, specifications, applicable codes, and Arcadis quality and safety standards. The individual also communicates closely with clients, establishes clear goals and objectives for project teams, and coordinates resources and schedules to successfully deliver projects on time, within budget, and in alignment with client expectations. Some local travel may be required.

Other responsibilities include: 

  • Provide technical expertise on multi-disciplined projects as a design leader, QA/QC reviewer or technical advisor.
  • Navigate local and state permitting requirements to obtain regulatory approval for projects. 
  • Supervise and support the work of others while mentoring junior level engineers and technical staff.
  • Work directly with clients to determine needs and deliver solutions and lead the growth of client relationships with target clients.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications

  • 8 years or more of experience in site civil projects
  • BS degree in Civil Engineering or related
  • PE License in North Carolina

Key Skills/Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience in the land development projects and proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D 
  • Excellent professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings
  • Client facing experience and ability to develop contacts and relationships
  • Ability to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several assignments
