Avionics Manufacturing Engineer (All levels)
Department: Manufacturing

Compensation: $120,000 - $165,000 / year
Description
We are looking for an Avionics Manufacturing Engineer who will own Helios avionics as a product in the manufacturing organization.
Helios is the kick stage transforming access to MEO, GEO, Cislunar, and beyond. Paired with a medium-lift launch vehicle, Helios provides same day delivery for large payloads from LEO to high-energy orbits - delivering heavy-lift performance at medium-lift costs.
Leveling will be commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities
  • Own Helios avionics as a product in the manufacturing organization. Serve as program manager both flight hardware and ground support equipment.
  • Work with Helios program management to define schedules and deliverables.
  • Own mechanical assembly of Helios avionics system by working with subject matter experts on the avionics manufacturing team (PCBAs, RF, optics, harnessing, batteries).
  • Design the manufacturing process and write manufacturing procedures for mechanical assembly of the overall avionics system.
  • Train and guide technicians building avionics hardware.
  • Collaborate with design engineers on DFM of Helios avionics.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams on quality and long-term reliability.
  • Ensure the timely delivery of avionics components to Integration.
  • Provide day-to-day support for the production floor, resolving build issues, updating work instructions, and improving yields.
  • Support environmental and functional testing in production.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelors' degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in a program management or project management role leading cross functional teams to deliver complex hardware, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
  • 3+ years of experience as a manufacturing engineer for electronic or optical hardware
  • Experience writing manufacturing work instructions and training technicians to build hardware.
  • Proficient in mechanical design using Siemens NX

Preferred Skills and Experience
  • M.S. degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • 6+ years of experience in spacecraft avionics manufacturing.
  • Experience with setting up and scaling manufacturing lines involving electro-mechanical assemblies.

Additional Information:
Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
