What is a full time automotive controller?

Full Time Automotive Controllers are financial professionals who oversee all accounting and financial activities within an automotive dealership or group of dealerships. They are responsible for managing budgets, preparing financial statements, ensuring compliance with regulations, and supporting business decision-making with accurate financial information. Their role also includes supervising accounting staff, overseeing payroll, and working closely with dealership management to optimize financial performance. Automotive Controllers play a key role in maintaining the financial health and integrity of the dealership. They typically work full-time and are integral to strategic planning and operational efficiency.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a full time automotive controller?

To thrive as a Full Time Automotive Controller, you need strong accounting expertise, in-depth knowledge of automotive dealership operations, and a degree in accounting or finance, often complemented by a CPA certification. Exceptional attention to detail, analytical thinking, and effective communication are vital soft skills for managing financial reporting and collaborating with department heads.
