Job Title: AV Systems Estimator

Location: Wixom, MI

Salary: $65,000 - $85,000

Summary

This role is responsible for collaborating with sales, engineering, and purchasing teams to assemble materials lists with associated pricing and support the development of complete proposal and quote packages. The position plays a key role in ensuring accurate cost estimation, contract compliance, and submittal coordination across audiovisual integration projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review sales scopes of work (SOW); identify and alert sales and engineering teams to any discrepancies or concerns
  • Extract and assemble materials lists from specifications and drawings; set up quotes for engineering review
  • Assist engineering in determining labor costing required to complete projects in accordance with company and client expectations
  • Work with engineering and installation managers to source and vet subcontractor pricing as part of pre-sales quoting
  • Review incoming AIA contract bids (bid spec work) for the following contractual elements:
    • Payment terms and conditions
    • Change order allowable markups post-contract award
    • Prevailing wage adherence within the pricing structure
    • Bonding requirements
    • Liquidated damages
    • Project schedules
    • Safety requirements and certifications
    • Daily job reporting requirements for lead technicians or project managers
    • Submittal requirements
    • Testing requirements and required testing tools
    • Commissioning requirements
    • Training requirements
    • Warranty terms; coordinate turnover to managed services group
  • Assemble and deliver initial client submittals including materials lists and associated cut sheets
  • Send completed shop drawing submittals to clients per contract requirements
  • Assist in identifying remote subcontractors and certified MBE subcontractors where required
  • Perform field surveys for sales and engineering departments as needed for estimating purposes
  • Assist the installation manager in maintaining subcontractor relations and availability
  • Determine travel requirements for team staff on a per-project basis

Required Qualifications

  • General estimating knowledge and experience
  • Familiarity with audiovisual systems, including:
    • Commercial audio systems
    • Television and display system technology
    • Control systems technology
  • General knowledge of construction practices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with strong organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively with diverse groups
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Ability to read and interpret general business documentation, specifications, and drawings
