About the RoleAs an Associate Attorney in our Hearings Department, you will guide clients through the Social Security Disability appeals process by preparing them for hearings, representing them before Administrative Law Judges, and advocating for them throughout their cases.
This position is ideal for attorneys who enjoy advocacy, client interaction, and developing legal strategy in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare clients for Social Security Disability hearings with professionalism, empathy, and attention to detail.
- Represent clients at hearings before Administrative Law Judges.
- Draft appeals, legal briefs, and supporting documentation for submission to the Appeals Council.
- Evaluate prospective cases and determine eligibility for representation.
- Analyze medical evidence and case records to develop effective legal strategies.
- Maintain accurate case documentation and manage deadlines using the firm's case management system.
- Collaborate with attorneys, legal assistants, and support staff to deliver exceptional client service and case outcomes.
Qualifications
Required- Active law license in Missouri or Kansas, or the ability to obtain licensure in one of those states within one month of hire.
- Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and client advocacy abilities.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to manage a high-volume caseload while maintaining attention to detail and quality of work.
Preferred
- Experience with Social Security Disability law, administrative hearings, or appellate practice.
- Familiarity with reviewing medical records and developing evidence-based legal arguments.
Direct disability law experience is not required. Candidates with strong advocacy skills and an interest in administrative law are encouraged to apply.
Experience- 1–3 years of legal experience preferred, although outstanding recent graduates and early-career attorneys are welcome to apply.
