Our Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Principal Engineer for our Civil & Structural Engineering Practice in Seattle, WA. We are looking for experienced consultants to help lead and further expand our Structural and Architectural Engineering consulting efforts, as well as contribute to the continued growth of our practice. In this role, you will work as part of a team to lead analytical and computer problem-solving, perform experimental field investigations and diagnostic surveys, and develop and maintain client relations. Assignments will require the ability to gather information from and convey technical conclusions to individuals in engineering, business, and industry.
You will be responsible for
  • Lead business generation and client development efforts
  • Developing a profitable and dynamic architectural engineering and building technology consulting practice based in Exponent's Seattle office serving the Pacific Northwest
  • Identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities and promoting Exponent through typical business contacts
  • Recruiting, developing and mentoring staff in the areas of architectural and structural engineering, failure analysis and investigation, and both domestic and international dispute resolution
  • Promoting Exponent's expertise in architectural and structural engineering by meeting with potential clients, presenting at conferences and conducting seminars

You will have the following skills and qualifications
  • Master's degree or PhD in Civil, Architectural, or Structural Engineering and a minimum of 10 years of post-graduation experience
  • Professional Engineering License (or ability to obtain license within 12 months) in the State of Washington
  • Effective leadership skills with the ability to positively interact with professionals, technical staff, and administrative staff
  • An outstanding professional reputation with an existing client base
  • Experience providing expert testimony in a dispute resolution setting
  • Significant experience in construction claims, dispute resolution, and litigation services
  • Proven business development and client management track record, and the ability to attract projects to support full-time staff

Compensation
Our consultants are rewarded for their technical and business contributions and have an opportunity to plan for future success and career growth. Exponent's total compensation plan is consistent with its expectations of the quality and quantity of work performed and with the professional standards set by Exponent. At the Manager level and above total compensation includes base salary, annual bonus, and 401(k) employer contribution of 7% of base salary.
The base salary range for this position is dependent on experience and capabilities, which will be assessed during the interview process.
Salary Range
USD $181,000.00 - USD $284,000.00 /Yr.
