We pride ourselves on delivering personalized service and high-quality testing with quick, accurate results.

Role Summary

We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Lab Assistant to support our laboratory operations. This role performs essential pre-analytical and post-analytical tasks that ensure timely and accurate patient testing. The ideal candidate is organized, adaptable, and committed to maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receive, accession, and label patient specimens in accordance with laboratory procedures.

  • Prepare, centrifuge, aliquot, and distribute specimens to appropriate testing departments.

  • Assist with specimen storage, retrieval, and disposal following established protocols.

  • Monitor sample integrity and report any issues (e.g., leakage, mislabeling, insufficient quantity).

  • Support lab operations by maintaining supply inventory, restocking workstations, and ensuring cleanliness and organization of the workspace.

  • Perform routine equipment maintenance tasks such as cleaning centrifuges, refrigerators, and work areas.

  • Assist CLS staff by preparing reagents, loading analyzers, and submitting samples for testing as directed.

  • Handle inbound phone calls professionally and route inquiries to the appropriate team members.

  • Adhere to biosafety, PPE, and infection control protocols to ensure a safe and compliant working environment.

  • Participate in quality improvement activities and follow all CLIA, CAP, and state regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Previous experience in a clinical laboratory or medical environment or completion of a Lab Assistant/Phlebotomy training program.

  • Ability to follow detailed procedures and multitask efficiently.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

Preferred:
  • 1+ year of experience as a Lab Assistant in a clinical lab setting (Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation).

  • Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS).

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

Additional Requirements

  • This position is an on-site at Primex Clinical Laboratories, Inc. 16742 Stagg St. #120 Van Nuys, CA 91406.

  • Must follow PPE and safety protocols at all times.

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 lbs as needed for laboratory operations.

  • Must demonstrate teamwork, professionalism, and a cooperative attitude.
