Job description

The Enterprise Technology Services organization partners with every part of the American Express business to power the company's growth and innovation with trust and efficiency and drive competitive differentiation with speed. We support the delivery and operations of technology, digital, and data capabilities, platforms, and services globally. Specifically, our team is responsible for the Enterprise Bid Data Platform and engineering, architecture, and Platform enablement supporting 20+ Lines of Business across American Express.   Our Big data Platform is the backbone of enterprise data - driving scalable, secure, and high-performance for the enterprise data warehouse powering data-driven insights across American Express. This role will drive technical delivery across multiple initiatives that support the resilience, innovation, and growth of our big data platform.

The below represents the expected salary range for this job requisition. Ultimately, in determining your pay, we'll consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering) and/or comparable experience; advanced degree preferred
  • Knowledge of Agile/SAFe/Lean methodologies
  • 8-12+ years in technical program management, delivering large-scale data and platform initiatives 
  • Proven track record managing cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and big data ecosystems 
  • Experience leading cross-functional programs spanning data engineering, AI/ML, analytics, and platform teams 
  • Demonstrated success delivering enterprise-scale, multi-year transformations
  • Experience implementing or supporting enterprise semantic layers and data standardization initiatives 
  • Understanding of data-as-a-product models and domain-oriented data ownership 
  • Familiarity with agentic AI use cases (automation, orchestration, decision intelligence) 
  • Ability to translate business needs into AI-enabled, data-driven solutions
  • Knowledge of technical challenges and systems design, with the ability to facilitate technical discussions and drive solutions

  • Manage the strategic planning, coordination, and execution of technology-focused projects, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and project goals
  • Ability to define and execute complex program roadmaps, aligning business and technology strategies 
  • Drive technical delivery in Agile, SAFe, and hybrid delivery models 
  • Ability to have strong dependency management across multiple teams and platforms 
  • Skilled in risk management, issue resolution, and executive-level reporting 
  • Experience managing vendor/partner ecosystems and platform integrations
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence senior leadership and stakeholders 
  • Experience working across business, product, data, and engineering teams 
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts in clear, business-oriented terms
