Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree business, recreation management, sports management, healthcare administration, or related field (Required)
  • 5 - 7 years Progressive leadership experience in community center, fitness/recreation, aquatics, facility operations, hospitality, or related multi-amenity environment; experience managing budgets, membership operations, rentals/events, staff, vendors, safety procedures, and cross-functional operations (Required)

    Job Overview:

The General Manager provides overall on-site leadership for the Findlay Community Center, a 59,700-square-foot community center located at the Findlay Site and designed to serve as a neighborhood hub for recreation, wellness, fitness, aquatics, roller skating, youth and family activity, community programming, and civic gathering. This role is accountable for the daily operation, member experience, staffing, programming, safety, financial performance, and facility readiness of the Center. The General Manager oversees major community center amenities including the gymnasium, pool, roller rink, locker rooms, multipurpose rooms, child watch area, indoor track, group fitness classrooms, fitness and cardio equipment areas, rooftop field, and related interior furniture, fixtures, equipment, and recreational spaces. The General Manager leads the Center through pre-opening, launch, and operating ramp-up by building membership participation, supporting tiered and sliding-scale access goals, driving member registration and retention, coordinating facility scheduling, overseeing rentals and special events, and adapting programs based on utilization, community feedback, and stakeholder input. The position manages the Annual Operating Plan, operating budget, membership revenue, program revenue, rental and special-purpose revenue, sponsorship coordination where applicable, expenses, reporting, and corrective actions needed to support long-term financial sustainability and compliance with approved budgets and operating standards. As the primary on-site leader, the General Manager serves as a key liaison with TriHealth leadership, 3CDC, City stakeholders, Cincinnati Recreation Commission partners, the childcare operator, neighborhood community councils, schools, churches, businesses, local organizations, members, and community users. The role is responsible for ensuring the Center is clean, safe, inclusive, responsive, financially disciplined, and operated in alignment with TriHealth standards, the Annual Operating Plan, applicable laws, contractual requirements, and the expectations of a first-class community center.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead daily operations for the Findlay Community Center, ensuring the facility is clean, safe, welcoming, fully staffed, and operated in a first-class manner across the gymnasium, pool, roller rink, locker rooms, multipurpose rooms, child watch, indoor track, group fitness classrooms, fitness/cardio areas, rooftop field, and related interior spaces. Oversee facility opening/closing, member services, issue resolution, scheduling, rentals, special events, custodial standards, and day-to-day operational readiness.
  • Manage financial performance and required planning/reporting, including the Annual Operating Plan, annual budget, monthly operating reports, revenue and expense monitoring, membership ramp-up, program revenue, rentals/special-purpose revenue, approved reimbursement processes, variance identification, corrective actions, and budget reconciliation or escalation requirements when performance materially departs from plan.
  • Lead programming, membership, and user experience strategy. Ensure offerings include and evolve across fitness assessments, personal training, group exercise, aquatics programming and swim lessons, gymnasium sports, roller rink events and community use, youth and family programs, older adult programs, wellness education, community events, and other offerings aligned with member demand, accessibility goals, utilization data, and community feedback.
  • Serve as the primary on-site relationship leader for 3CDC, City stakeholders, CRC partners, the childcare operator, community councils, schools, churches, businesses, neighborhood organizations, sponsors, vendors, members, and users. Coordinate communication, respond to community feedback, support neighborhood outreach, represent the Center in public forums, and ensure program and operating decisions reflect community needs and contractual expectations.
  • Lead personnel management for the Center, including hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, payroll/timekeeping coordination, performance management, retention, living wage compliance as applicable, staff ratios, certification tracking, emergency preparedness training, de-escalation readiness, and development of a culture grounded in accountability, service excellence, safety, inclusion, and TriHealth SERVE standards.
  • Oversee operator responsibilities related to compliance and risk management, including interior maintenance obligations, preventative maintenance coordination, building system issue escalation, recreational equipment upkeep, life-safety procedures, 24-hour emergency contact coverage, alarm response coordination, accident/significant occurrence reporting, member surveys, rental agreement administration, advertising/material approval workflows, concessions and merchandise oversight, sponsorship coordination where authorized, and records needed for audit, community benefits, and operating reports.
