Job description

Amazon's fulfillment network is one of the most complex supply chain systems in the world, and how we place inventory across it directly determines whether customers get faster delivery at lower cost. We are seeking a Principal Finance Manager to lead the financial strategy that shapes how billions of dollars of inventory flows into our US sortable fulfillment network.
In this role, you will provide the insights and frameworks that help senior leaders make placement decisions balancing customer experience (faster delivery, higher in-stock rates) with Amazon's cost to serve. You will operate at the intersection of inbound transportation, fulfillment center operations, and outbound shipment, translating complex supply chain trade-offs into clear financial narratives that drive action

The breadth is unique: from billion-dollar network transformations to daily execution optimization, you will be the financial voice that connects it all.
Key job responsibilities
- Serve as the primary finance partner to the Supply Chain Director responsible for placement strategy, building deep working relationships across SCOT, NACF, Transportation, FBA, Retail, and Science to drive end-to-end network optimization
- Lead financial planning for placement across OP1, OP2, and QxG cycles, ensuring plan alignment across all organizations impacted by how inventory enters the network and preparing VP-level narratives and bridges
- Deliver trade-off analyses and variance deep-dives through weekly WBR support that directly inform execution decisions, helping leaders weigh customer experience against cost to serve
- Own the placement valuation framework and serve as the single source of truth on methodology, assumptions, and financial impact
- Pressure-test benefit entitlements for placement initiatives regardless of where they originate, validating assumptions and ensuring consistency in planning and reporting
- Champion AI adoption to accelerate analysis and continuously explore new ways to deliver insights faster
