Position Overview

At Foundation Building Materials (FBM), our Driver (B Train experience required) are essential—delivering materials safely, efficiently, and with pride. Enjoy local routes, daily home time, competitive pay, and a supportive culture built on safety and respect.

* Role Type: Full-Time, Monday–Friday (Delta, BC)

* Time Split: ~90% Commercial Driving & Pickups / ~10% Delta Yard & Warehouse Support

* Licensing: Valid Class 1 License with minimum 2 years of verifiable B-Train experience

* Equipment: Forklift ticket or verified forklift experience required


Key Responsibilities

  1. Vehicle Operation/Delivery
  • Safely operate Class 1 commercial vehicles and B-Train configurations to pick up building materials and supplier freight across the Lower Mainland.
  • Transport all incoming materials directly back to the Delta branch warehouse and yard.
  • Inspect, verify, and secure all loads (strapping, chaining, tarping, and weight distribution) before transit in accordance with National Safety Code (NSC) standards.
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle and trailer inspections to ensure ongoing roadworthiness and compliance with Transport Canada regulations.
  • Verify shipping documents, vendor pick tickets, and material counts to ensure accurate receiving.
  1. Safety
  • Maintain full compliance with WorkSafeBC, CCOHS, and provincial commercial transport regulations.
  • Follow all company safety protocols, including proper 3-point contact, load-securing standards, and safe manual lifting practices.
  • Wear mandatory Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including CSA-approved safety boots, hi-vis gear, and gloves.
  • Keep vehicle cabs, trailers, and yard work areas clean, organized, and hazard-free.
  • Adheres to all driving regulations based on state and/or jurisdiction policies such as wearing a seatbelt
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse environment
  • Promote a safe and compliant work environment that adheres to the established safety guidelines of the Company and Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS), in addition to any state or local legislative regulations
  • Use proper lifting techniques
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment safety shoes and clothing
  1. Communication
  • Communicate operational challenges and improvement ideas to the manager
  • Collaborate with team members and assist in other areas as needed to support operational goals
  • Must attend and participate in all required meetings in relation to material delivery and overall company
  • Report any vehicle maintenance issues, vendor pickup delays, or load discrepancies promptly to the Branch Manager.
  • Work collaboratively with the Delta warehouse and operations team to keep material flow efficient.
  • Participate actively in all required branch safety and operational meetings.
  1. Trainings
  • Attend and participate in all required company training programs
  1. Physical Job Requirements  
  • Frequent use of hands and arms for equipment operation, grasping and manipulation
  • Frequent driving or sitting in a truck, forklift or other similar equipment for multiple hours a day
  • Frequent pushing, pulling, lifting or carrying building materials weighing approximately 100 pounds, using proper lifting procedures; and occasionally pushing, pulling, lifting or carrying greater weights.  Pushing and pulling carts loaded carts over various distances and surfaces.  Some functions may be performed as a team
  • Additional physical requirements may be needed as duties are assigned

Qualifications

  • Possess valid Class 1 License
  • Minimum 1-year consistent commercial driving experience
  • Valid Class 1 Commercial Driver’s License with a clean commercial driving abstract.
  • Minimum 2 years of verifiable B-Train commercial driving experience.
  • Valid Forklift Operator Certification or strong, verified counterbalance forklift experience.
  • Solid working knowledge of load securement standards and Lower Mainland transport routes.
  • Strong reliability, communication skills, and a team-first attitude.

Compensation

The listed pay range reflects the expected base rate for this position. The actual compensation may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, and cost of living in the assigned market. This is a full-time position with competitive pay and benefits.
