Position Profile:

Bread for the City is seeking a dedicated Diaper & Client Engagement Coordinator to join our mission-driven team. This dual-focused role is essential for ensuring that emergency diapers and baby pantry items are readily available to our community while serving as a professional first point of contact for the organization. The Coordinator manages all Diaper Program operations and provides critical triage and engagement support, ensuring our service environment embodies the dignity, respect, and radical hospitality our community deserves. This position is based 90% at our Southeast (SE) center.

Diaper Program Responsibilities:

  • Oversee comprehensive Diaper Program operations, including inventory management, ordering, and reconciliation with the Diaper Bank.
  • Coordinate logistics for diaper pick-ups, distribution, and storage across SE and NW centers, ensuring stock is organized and accessible.
  • Screen diaper requests, verify documentation, and facilitate seamless referrals to appropriate internal and external resources.
  • Maintain accurate records of all dispersed items in eCW and Salesforce, providing timely reports to the Diaper Bank.
  • Proactively expand program reach by cultivating partnerships with local community organizations to facilitate diaper drives and elevate awareness.
  • Fulfill diaper requests from internal BFC departments.
  • Prepare and update program flyers for client distribution.
  • Maintain the organization of the diaper room, including baby furniture, hygiene products, and adult diapers.
  • Develop and oversee the baby pantry initiative at the SE location, managing inventory and distributing additional infant and family items, such as food, wipes, and baby furniture, with plans to expand to the NW center.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Client Engagement Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily building operations by opening the center at 8:30 am.
  • Greet and direct visitors with warmth and professionalism to the appropriate staff and programs.
  • Triage client inquiries effectively by utilizing a deep knowledge of local community resources.
  • Connect clients to essential internal and external community programs.
  • Direct incoming phone communications with professional courtesy and efficiency.
  • Maintain the professional appearance of reception areas and monitor waiting rooms, restrooms, and common areas.
  • Provide administrative support, including office supply management and document processing.
  • Distribute incoming and inter-office mail promptly and accurately.
  • Support special projects and additional administrative duties as assigned.
  • Attend community tabling events to promote Bread for the City Services and recruit volunteers.

Professional Skills & Experience:

  • A college degree in human services or a related field is preferred, but not required.
  • Multitask effectively in a fast-paced, high-engagement office setting.
  • Demonstrate a deep commitment to serving and empowering low-income communities.
  • Exhibit strong organizational skills with a proactive and dependable work ethic.
  • Possess familiarity with the DC Diaper Bank (highly preferred).
  • Communicate effectively and empathetically to build rapport with diverse clients and colleagues.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service while maintaining a professional and welcoming demeanor.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Work effectively as both a self-starter and a collaborative team member.
