Position Summary
La Salle University's Political Science has an ongoing need for highly qualified adjunct faculty to teach a variety of courses each semester on an "as needed" basis. Courses generally taught by adjunct faculty may include: Introduction to US Government, Congress, The Presidency, and Media and Poltics. These courses are generally offered in person, in the daytime.
Essential Duties
• Prepare meaningful lectures and class activities for the full duration of the published class time for each class period according to academic calendar.
• Create a syllabus that meets the Provost's Syllabus Checklist requirements.
• Create assessment activities that support the stated learning outcomes for the course.
• Address student questions in a timely and helpful manner.
• Use Canvas and other technology to enhance student learning.
• Support and follow University policies and procedures as well as those for the BUSCA Program.
• Attend faculty meetings.
• Submit grades and materials for assessment projects on or before stated deadlines.
• Communicate student concerns with personnel in the program.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Political Science, Education or related field. Candidates with a PhD or JD are encouraged to apply.
• Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching American Government.
• Knowledge and commitment to the mission of La Salle University.
Preferred Qualifications
• Research interest or coursework in Voting Behavior; or Media and Politics
• Previous experience teaching at the collegiate level.
• Willingness to be flexible in class scheduling.
Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours
• Some classes offered may be in the evenings, on weekends, or online.
