Discovery Co-operative is hiring for a Temporary Full-Time Accounting Technician I for our Administration Department located in North Battleford SK.

What you'll do:

Reporting to the Office Manager you will provide safe, courteous, efficient and customer-focused service in our Administration Department and:

  • Complete all bank transaction entries and ensure invoices are processed accurately. 
  • Key daily sales entries across the retail including the processing and verification of sales transactions.
  • Complete the verification of bank cards, gift card transactions, Co-op numbers, and charge account transactions. 
  • Record customer number, and check for daily cash variances (over/short). 
  • Complete change orders for departments as required. 
  • Ensure proper document and filing of sales records are maintained for reference and audit purposes and assist with the coordination and facilitation of internal and external audits.
  • Reconcile cash ups, assist with the preparation of Accounts Receivable statements and submit concerns regarding discrepancies to Office Manager as required.  
  • Ensure all accounting, and customer information is handled and secured in a confidential manner, in accordance with PIPEDA including all online access.  
  • Provide general Administration support and coverage for the front reception area as required.
  • Be familiar with and adhere to Discovery Co-op Policies and Procedures. To live the Co-op brand every day and perform other duties as assigned.

Who you are:  

You are looking for a career in Accounting and Administration and:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Completion of 1-2 year accounting program from a post-secondary institution preferred.
  • 1-2 years or more of relevant experience in accounting (including data entry) is required. 
  • Proficient in computer systems (Microsoft Office Suite, Excel), with the ability to learn new software applications.
  • Co-operative retail experience is an asset.
  • Attention for detail and have basic knowledge of accounting.
  • Proven organization and time management skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to effectively prioritize and manage expectations.
  • You're honest and trustworthy, are results-orientated, and strive to be the best in what you do.
  • You believe in building relationships and collaborating to deliver solutions that matter most, and you recognize the value that different perspectives bring to meet shared objectives. 
  • A combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.
