Contractors are typically hired for a set duration or until a project is completed and may work with multiple clients. They are expected to have expertise in various programming languages, frameworks, and databases to build and maintain complete web applications. This role often provides flexibility in work arrangements but requires strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to different tech stacks.

A Full Stack Software Developer on contract needs proficiency in both front-end and back-end technologies, such as JavaScript frameworks, server-side languages, and databases, along with a solid understanding of software development principles. Job description

Our client is a 25-person Series A startup based in East Austin, building an AI-native operations platform used by healthcare staffing firms to forecast demand, match clinicians to assignments, and automate compliance paperwork. The company has tripled ARR over the past year and is hiring its 4th and 5th product engineers.

As Full Stack Engineer you will ship customer-visible product across the entire stack: React + TypeScript on the front end, Node + Postgres + a thin LLM service layer on the back end. You will work directly with the CTO and design lead, pair with the founding engineers on technical scoping, and have meaningful influence on the product roadmap from week one.

This is a high-ownership role for an engineer who wants startup velocity, real equity, and the option to grow into a tech lead or eventual engineering manager as the team scales past 10.

Requirements
  • 4+ years of full-stack product engineering experience at a startup or product company
  • Strong proficiency with React, TypeScript, and a modern Node backend framework
  • Working knowledge of Postgres and basic data modeling
  • Comfortable owning features from spec through deploy and on-call
  • Prior experience integrating with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic) a plus, not required
