IT Engineering Manager - Frontend & Full-Stack (Hands-On)
Location: Tampa, FL, Mesquite TX

Position Overview: We're seeking a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead an engineering team (frontend, full-stack, QA) while remaining actively involved in technical delivery. This role balances strong technical expertise with proven leadership experience, requiring 20-30% hands-on coding alongside strategic team management.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership
  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers (frontend, full-stack, QA)
  • Build high-performing teams through hiring, onboarding, and professional development
  • Conduct 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development planning
  • Manage team capacity, sprint planning, and resource allocation
  • Foster collaboration, innovation, and engineering excellence

Hands-On Technical Contribution
  • Actively contribute code to critical features (20-30% of time)
  • Lead code reviews and provide technical guidance
  • Design and architect scalable frontend and full-stack solutions
  • Debug complex issues and prototype new technologies
  • Drive technical decisions and proof-of-concepts

Engineering Operations
  • Optimize SDLC for speed and quality
  • Implement and improve CI/CD pipelines
  • Establish engineering metrics (velocity, quality, deployment frequency)
  • Lead incident response and post-mortems
  • Drive best practices in testing, deployment, and monitoring

Technical Strategy
  • Define technical roadmap and architecture
  • Make technology stack decisions
  • Balance technical debt with feature delivery
  • Ensure scalability, performance, and reliability
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, and Analytics teams

Distributed Team Management
  • Lead geographically distributed teams across time zones
  • Establish effective communication for remote/hybrid teams
  • Build inclusive team culture regardless of location

Required Qualifications
Leadership Experience
  • 3+ years managing engineering teams (frontend, full-stack, QA)
  • Proven track record hiring, developing, and retaining talent
  • Successful delivery of complex, multi-team projects

Technical Experience
  • 8+ years as individual contributor in frontend/full-stack development space
  • Expert-level proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript
  • Modern frontend frameworks:

    • Svelte/SvelteKit (required or willing to learn)
    • React/Next.js (required)

  • Full-stack development:

    • Backend: Node.js, or C#
    • RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL
    • Database design (SQL and NoSQL)

E-Commerce & PWA
  • Salesforce Commerce Cloud (SFCC) experience:

    • SFCC architecture and APIs (SCAPI, OCAPI)
    • SFCC PWA Kit or headless commerce
    • Business Manager configuration (preferred)

  • Progressive Web App (PWA) expertise:

    • Service Workers, offline functionality
    • Core Web Vitals optimization (LCP, FID, CLS)
    • Mobile-first development
    • Performance optimization and Lighthouse

DevOps & Cloud
  • CI/CD: GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps
  • Containerization: Docker, Kubernetes
  • Cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, CloudFormation
  • Monitoring: Grafana, PowerBI

Other Requirements
  • Strong understanding of software architecture and design principles
  • Experience with test automation (TDD, unit, integration, e2e)
  • Agile/Scrum methodology expertise
  • Analytics implementation experience (GA4, Amplitude, etc.)
  • Performance optimization and security best practices
  • Distributed team management experience
