Full Stack Frontend Developer information

What is a full stack frontend developer?

A Full Stack Frontend Developer is a software professional who specializes in building both the user-facing (frontend) and server-side (backend) components of web applications, with a primary focus on frontend technologies. They are proficient in languages and frameworks like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, or Angular for the frontend, while also understanding backend languages such as Node.js, Python, or PHP. This dual expertise allows them to work across the entire development stack, making them valuable in projects that require seamless integration between the user interface and server logic.

How does a full stack frontend developer typically collaborate with backend developers and designers on projects?

As a Full Stack Frontend Developer, you’ll regularly work alongside backend developers to ensure seamless integration between the user interface and server-side logic. Collaboration often involves reviewing API documentation, participating in sprint planning, and troubleshooting issues that arise at the intersection of frontend and backend systems. You’ll also work with designers to translate UI/UX mockups into functional, responsive components, providing technical feedback to optimize user experiences. Effective communication and teamwork are essential for delivering cohesive, high-quality applications.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a full stack frontend developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Full Stack Frontend Developer, you should have a solid grasp of JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and at least one backend language or framework, often supported by a relevant degree or prior experience. Familiarity with tools like React, Node.js, version control systems (like Git), and deployment platforms is typically expected. Standout soft skills include problem-solving, adaptability, and strong communication for effective collaboration across teams. These skills are crucial for building responsive, scalable web applications and ensuring smooth integration between frontend and backend systems.

We expect this person to be an active voice in how we plan and build contributing to epics, shaping scope, and bringing engineering perspective into roadmap conversations from the start.
WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Build accessible, data-rich user experiences with React and TypeScript that make complex commercial and healthcare insights clear and actionable
  • Build and maintain real-time computation services (AWS Lambda) that serve scores and calculations on-demand to the customer-facing app, with an eye toward latency, reliability, and cost at scale
  • Design and maintain reliable, scalable APIs and backend services connecting ODAIA's data, ML, analytics, and agentic capabilities to customer-facing products
  • Work across our stack AWS, Kubernetes, Snowflake, PostgreSQL, and embedded analytical engines like DuckDB and DataFusion
  • Use Claude Code and other coding AI agents across the development lifecycle, and help define how the team uses these tools effectively
  • Lead technical design, code review, and architectural discussions, surfacing risks and trade-offs early
  • Mentor other engineers and help shape team practices around testing, observability, and code quality
  • Partner with engineering leadership on technical roadmap decisions and platform investments
  • Please include a cover letter with your application outlining your relevant experience and interest in this role. You can describe a project you've worked on that relates to one of the "What You Bring" or "What You Will Do" points, and share how you'd expand on it here at ODAIA.

  • Deep experience with React and TypeScript, plus a strong grasp of browser fundamentals, state management, and frontend performance
  • Extensive experience designing and operating APIs or backend services (Python, TypeScript, or similar) under real production load
  • Strong engineering fundamentals  modular design, testing, and maintainable code paired with the judgment to know when simplicity is right and when more rigor is needed
  • Experience guiding coding AI agents effectively, reviewing generated output, and retaining full ownership of the final implementation
  • A track record of mentoring engineers and raising the technical bar on a team
  • A product-oriented mindset and clear communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
