Job description

A large Data Center in Cheyenne, WY is hiring multiple Data Center Cable Technicians to join the team for a great long term opportunity!

Job Duties:

  • Install, configure, and maintain data center hardware, including servers, racks, network equipment, and power distribution units (PDUs).
  • Manage cable infrastructure, including structured cabling and fiber optic systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Conduct equipment troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs to minimize downtime and optimize performance.
  • Collaborate with network and system engineers to ensure seamless integration of hardware with the data center environment.
  • Perform routine inspections to verify environmental and equipment health, including cooling systems and backup power solutions.
  • Plan and oversee the installation of external infrastructure such as conduits, cables, poles, and related facilities.
  • Ensure proper routing and termination of fiber optic and copper cables for connection between buildings or to external network providers.
  • Inspect and maintain outside plant infrastructure to mitigate risks of damage and ensure long-term reliability.

Qualifications:

  • 1-3+ years of prior IT related experience with previous Data Center/Cabling exp being a plus but not required.
  • Knowledge of structured cabling standards and fiber optic technologies.
  • Familiarity with environmental systems such as HVAC, electrical backup systems, and fire suppression systems.
  • Low voltage experience is a big plus but not required.
  • Prefer cabling experience (coax, fiber, cat5, cat6, punch downs, etc.) but not required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be willing to submit to a driving record check, BG and drug screen
