Job description

Primary Purpose
Greene Education is seeking a skilled Full-Stack Developer & Systems Administrator to support, maintain, and expand the organization's educational technology platform. This position is responsible for both the technical infrastructure that keeps Greene Education's systems secure and operational and the application development that supports day-to-day business operations.
The ideal candidate is comfortable managing the full technology stack, from cloud infrastructure and databases to backend development and user-facing applications.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong full-stack web development and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot technical issues across servers, databases, applications, and browsers
  • Strong understanding of web security, system performance, and application reliability
  • Ability to manage multiple technical priorities and projects simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a remote environment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to identifying and resolving root causes

Education/Experience
  • 3+ years of full-stack web development experience
  • Proficiency with a modern PHP framework; Laravel preferred
  • Experience administering Linux servers
  • Solid understanding of web application and server security best practices
  • Experience with relational database design, management, and optimization
  • Frontend development experience using JavaScript and CSS frameworks
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage responsibilities in a remote work environment

Major Responsibilities and Duties
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain web applications supporting Greene Education's business operations
  • Administer, maintain, and monitor cloud-hosted Linux servers
  • Maintain platform security, availability, uptime, and overall system performance
  • Develop and refine user-facing application features based on organizational and operational needs
  • Manage relational databases, including schema design, maintenance, and performance optimization
  • Integrate third-party platforms, services, and APIs as organizational needs evolve
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues across the full technology stack, from server infrastructure to browser-based applications
  • Monitor systems and proactively identify opportunities to improve reliability and performance
  • Maintain appropriate technical documentation for systems, applications, configurations, and processes
  • Collaborate with leadership and internal stakeholders to translate operational needs into effective technical solutions

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with document generation and/or electronic signature workflows
  • Experience administering or developing solutions within cloud-hosting environments, preferably AWS
  • Previous experience working within or supporting the education sector
  • Experience supporting technology platforms used by multiple departments or end users

Who You Are
You enjoy taking ownership of problems from beginning to end and are comfortable transitioning between infrastructure management and application development. You prefer identifying and resolving the root cause of technical issues rather than relying on temporary fixes.
