Job Title: RN Psych
Duration: 13 weeks contract
Location: Cooperstown, NY 13326
Work Schedule: Night shift * 3 days a week + every other weekend
Hours: 7pm - 7am - Variable nights depending on need coverage may include weekdays and weekends.
Job Summary:
Unit: Adult Psychiatry (Locked Unit)
Unit Type: Adult Acute Psychiatric Unit
Patient Population: Adults 18+ presenting with a range of psychiatric and dualdiagnosis conditions, including but not limited to depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, psychosis, and substance/alcohol-related disorders.
Unit Size: 14 beds, expanding to 20 beds within 3-6 months.
Environment: Locked unit; secure behavioral health setting.
Patient Mix: Variable day-to-day; typically a blend of diagnoses and acuity levels.
Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:7 when at full census (2 nurses per shift).
Medication administration, documentation, and clinical oversight.
Direct Care: RNs may assist with patient care as needed, including 1:1 observation.
Safety Measures: Restraint/seclusion room on unit.
Security currently assists with restraints, but nurses will undergo deescalation training (TRUST training planned for spring).
Hourly rounding required-RNs rotate hourly patient checks.
