Hours: 12 hour shift

Location: Southern Regional Medical Center - Riverdale, GA 

We are seeking a Labor and Delivery RN, also referred to as a Labor & Delivery Nurse (L&D RN) or Delivery Room RN. A Labor and Delivery RN provides comprehensive care to mothers and newborns before, during, and immediately after childbirth, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, assisting with deliveries. They also perform clinical tasks, ensure patient safety, educate families, and coordinate closely with the healthcare team to respond to both routine and emergency situations.  

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

  • Maternal Monitoring: They check blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, oxygen saturation, and monitor for signs of complications like preeclampsia or infection
  • Labor Support: They assist with positioning the patient, guiding breathing techniques, and offering comfort measures like massage, cold packs, birthing balls, or hydrotherapy
  • IV Therapy: Starting and maintaining IVs for hydration, medication administration, or anesthesia
  • Patient Advocacy: Nurses act as advocates during labor, especially for patients who may have specific birth plans or cultural needs
  • Newborn Care: They dry, warm, and assess the baby immediately after birth (Apgar scoring), assist with cord clamping, and administer prophylactic medications
Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

1. Current and valid state RN License. 2. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred3. BLS certification within 30 days and maintain current 4. ACLS certification within 90 days and maintain current 5. NRP certification within 90 days and maintain current 6. Basic Fetal monitoring within 60 days of hire and maintain current 7. AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certificate within 12 months 8. AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring certificate preferred 9. STABLE preferred
